I was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1960. I am the oldest of 3 children. God used my family as a key part of my journey of faith. I was fortunate to have a family that was connected to a local church. I grew up going to church and many of my close friendships were forged in the context of that church family. At the age of 11, my pastor helped lead me to make the decision to become a Christian. Five years later I said, “Yes”, to God’s call to serve Him as a minister.
While attending Southwestern Baptist Theological seminary, I met my wife, Tammy. We actually met through the single’s ministry of our church in Fort Worth. In 1988, we married just a few weeks after she completed her seminary degree. She is a key partner in the work God has called both of us to do in His church. Together, we have two adult children, Elliott and Emilye.
Since 1991, I have been serving in local churches as the lead pastor. I have been here, at FBC Gladewater, since 2010. I consider it a joy to lead our church and to help provide part of the pastoral care for our faith community. Our staff and volunteers do a great job of caring for the many needs at FBC and we have a wonderful church family. It is my expectation that each person belonging to our faith community will find a place to be with others in fellowship, to serve alongside others in ministry, and to support what we are striving to do collectively: follow Christ in our community and beyond. Come and spend some time with us and see what it is like to be part of a loving church family.
